i think some of you didn't get my sms.

i suggest that you guys spend some time to write a good resume/cv and research on how to write a cover letter.

internships coming soon and the application period will be during your project crunch.

if you guys need help, i don't mind conducting a combined session.

other classes are invited too

Holiday Messages

General Housekeeping Rules

1. Inform me/Cheryl know if you are leaving the country and period of absence
(In future when you are working, you are also expected to publish an Out-Of-Office-Notice)

2. In future, when responses, pertaining to anything, are asked for. Reply even if it is a 'No'. So
that the oraganiser/coordinator will not be left wondering if the recipient got the message and
can plan accordingly. Sometimes, there may also be follow-up instructions which you may
miss out on.

Nothing too serious here, but it will help facilitate things.

Work smart, Work-Ready

~Straits Times Classifieds 19/12/09

This is a very good article that i recommend everyone to read. Many of the tips in this article are what i have been practising myself for sometime to come. Although this article is addressed to Undergrads, it is completely relevant to Poly students.

Also, even though the article targets graduating students, I feel that it is always never to early to plan for your future. Moreover, many of the tips brought up require time for ground work to be lay down. Having said that, 1+ years is not a luxury, especially when it involves changing one's character and attitude.

All of us here are automatically awarded with a high grade plasticine upon entering AMS. How your plasticine will look like eventually will depend solely on your effort to mould it

Storytime
and if the above article doesn't interest you, perhaps I can bore you readers further with yet another story about a true incident which happened to my friend.

My friend, A is a poly grad and currently working full-time. He often complains about life and work. Recently, he told a common friend B, who is a Regular Naval Officer, that he wishes to sign-on in the Navy. B, being a pal, called up a contact in the Recruitment Center to help A pull some strings.

The contact pulled A's NSF records from the database to find out more about him. A few days later, the contact called up B and asked, "Sir, why did you recommend this type of person to me???"

Lesson learned today, is that your rep, good or bad, stays with you. Especially, in the connected world of today, you never know if the skeletons in your closet will stay there forever. The morale of this story is not restricted to employment in the SAF. Also, a reminder to future conscripts who think that they can get away with ill-conduct, inaction and insubordination during service...Don't.

Dear Student,

Here’s is a chance to play a WoW-like game and win prizes!!!!

There is a National e-Gaming Competition to be held during the March term break, from 13 to 21 March 2010 at a venue to be confirmed. Prior to the competition, each team will attend three free training sessions at an appointed training centre. Each guided session will last 3 hours, for a total of 9 hours of training. All training sessions will be scheduled during the months of January and February 2010 and are specially tailored to ensure that all participants are suitably trained to compete. No prior gaming experience is required and the competition is open to both male and female students. You may want to view last year’s competition video at this link.
